Vancouver Island’s largest family owned and operated wholesale bakery

Irene’s Bakery has been a family owned business in Victoria since opening in 1985 on Oak Bay Avenue. In the late 80’s the founding family decided it needed more space and purchased Rose Bud Bakery and building, which had been operating since the 1960’s, and brought both bakeries together in our former Government Street location.

In 2019 Irene’s had the opportunity to merge with another Victoria institution, 6 Mile Bakery.  As a result we moved our wholesale operations to 6 Mile’s Carey Rd production facility and combined the two very experienced baking teams. This merger allowed Irene’s to add a donut line and the well known 6 Mile line of products found in local grocers.

Both bakeries were founded on the principles of traditional European bread making, and these principles are still practiced each and every day at Irene’s. Our mission is to provide quality products and service to Southern Vancouver Island’s grocers, restaurants, golf courses, institutions and coffee shops.

Our bakers have many years of combined baking experience. This, along with our our focus on quality ingredients, exceptional customer service, and a willingness to work with our customers has allowed us to service an ever expanding list of clients as far up island as Nanaimo.
